In the Richards Gallery
Reception, April 27, 1:00-3:00 pm, Gallery Talk 2:00pm
Befriending an artist means leaving a lot of room and time for their creativity. Collector and friend Gisela Josenhans did just that. She and Aminah Robinson enjoyed a long friendship, and during that time exchanged many letters and personalized objects, all through the mail, so as to not interrupt Robinson’s creative process. Enjoy the journey of their friendship, the fanciful letters from the artist, and a personal collection of art by renowned Ohio artist Aminah Robinson.
Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1940, Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson became a piviotal African American artist in Ohio. This exhibition presents Aminah’s work in conjunction with an archive of letters and other ephemera that the Museum received from friend and collector Gisela Josenhans.
